It was brought to our attention that an incident occurred last week in our parking lot after student-athletes returned to school from games. The police were searching for a suspect that we assume was related to an arrest warrant. That suspect was on foot and fled to school grounds and subsequently ended up hiding from the police in one of our student's vehicle.
Unfortunately, our student returned while the suspect was still inside the vehicle. Understandably this was a very scary situation and our student reacted perfectly by fleeing the vehicle. And most important, we are extremely thankful no one was injured. The LCPD apprehended the suspect shortly after and we have not heard any further details from the police on this matter.
From time to time, we do have incidents involving the police at school and for privacy reasons, we often do not communicate any details of these situations. In hindsight, perhaps we should have advised our community sooner as our number one concern is that students are safe on our school grounds. We will continue to discuss with students strategies and actions to minimize some of the safety risks that exist such as happened with this incident.

Father Chuck Tichacek threw out the first pitch tonight in an 8-9 loss to Clopton. Thank you Father Chuck.
