Mrs. Truett's eighth graders are learning about the events which happened before the American Revolution. Today, they participated in an activity where the students were colonists and they each had a cup of skittles which represented their money. The king (aka Raymond Bird) taxed the students. Examples are, if they had blue eyes they owed 2 skittles. The tax collectors went around and collected the skittles. They learned how taxation was unfair to the colonists since they did not have any representation in the British Parliament.
