Silex R1 Parents As Teachers Program
Silex R-1 offers this FREE program to qualifying families who reside in the school district and have children between prenatal and kindergarten entry. Our PAT program will provide your family with the components listed below. If you or someone you know are interested in the program and would like more information, please give us a call @ 573-384-5227 or email PAT@silex.k12.mo.us .
Personal Visits: Through Parents As Teachers, you will partner with a Parent Educator focused on your child's healthy growth and development. Your family's Parent Educator will personalize information to fit your specific needs, concerns and hopes. Together you will discuss and work towards meeting goals for your family. You will also build on your child's strengths and skills and share what you see your child doing in each stage of development. Your parent educator will help connect those behaviors and actions to what is happening in their current state of development. Your Parent Educator is there to broaden your knowledge as you watch your child grow and you make decisions for your family. To schedule a visit please call 573-384-5227 or email PAT@silex.k12.mo.us
Developmental and Health Screenings: Your child will be screened in developmental skills, basic vision, hearing and language within the first several visits. These screenings will give insight into your child's development, according to standardized measures. Screenings also help identify areas of difficulty for a child early on. This allows the parent to provide activities to build on skills in a weak area or seek professional help if necessary.
Referral Network: Parent Educators have many resources and referral networks to assist your family for any service or need you and your family may have.
Group Connections: Your family and other local families will be invited to join the group connections events which are designed to assist in building social connections, parent/child interactions and increase knowledge of ways to support your child's development. There will be at least 4 group connections offered each school year.
