Dear Silex R-1 School District Families:
We are happy to announce that school meals (breakfast and lunch) will continue to be provided at no charge to all Silex R-I School District students through a waiver from the USDA.
The free meal service began on Thursday, October 1st and has been extended through the end of the school year. All students are eligible for this program.
The Silex R-I School District is committed to ensuring no child goes hungry and has sponsored free meals and Owls Pals bags throughout the pandemic, even following the closure of our school buildings in the spring. The USDA waiver provides funding to ensure nutritious meals continue to reach all children in this unprecedented time.
There’s no need to apply for the benefit; all children through the age of 18 are automatically eligible for free meals.

Senior parents: The deadline for the FAFSA is February 1, 2021 for priority consideration. All Seniors who plan to attend college or a trade school should apply, but those planning to use their A+ Scholarship must file for the FAFSA.
