
Students in grades 7-12 have been invited to attend a powerful performance by BreakDown St. Louis at Elsberry High School on October 9th. With performances through dance, dramas, and multimedia presentations, this group of talented young artists will tackle tough issues facing teens today in an engaging and energetic experience. Please be aware that the topics discussed may be sensitive to students. Students will leave school at 9:30 am and will be returning at 11:55 pm on October 9th. Lunch at school will be available to students upon their return.
Forms to opt out of the presentation will be sent home with students Friday, please encourage them to return forms to me or the office by Oct 7 if they are uninterested so other arrangements can be made for them.


Calling All Super Fans - Mrs. Bair's Personal Finance class is working on a business plan project. They have come up with a business which is selling Super Fan T-shirts. Students are selling the shirts as part of their project to see the outcome of their projections on marketing and selling. Good luck to the class on this endeavor. If you would like to order a shirt, please return the order form to school.

Mrs. Laura McDonald accepted a donation this morning from the Angels of Service to help support the Owls Pals Program. The Owls Pals is sponsored by Silex NHS. Every other week care packages or sent home with any student who requests the Owls Pals bags. Thank you to the Angels of Service and all the generous benefactors.

Jostens will be at school on Thursday, October 3rd from 2:00-6:00pm for GRADUATION orders. This is the time that Graduation Announcements, Caps and Gowns, Senior Apparel and other graduation accessories will be ordered. Jostens is the official supplier of Graduation products for Silex HS. There will be a senior class informative meeting on Wednesday, September 25th. At this meeting a packet of information, including a catalog and order form, will be distributed. Please watch for this packet to come home and make sure your student shares this important information. Thank you for your timeliness on this very important event and REMEMBER TO SAVE THE DATE!


PTO Trunk or Treat will be held on October 25th at the Silex Community Center. PTO is in need of local businesses and individuals to setup trunks. This event is no cost to the families. If you would like to decorate a trunk, please contact Kalyn Olsen or Rochell Graddy to reserve a spot!!!
